Hello fellow Americans,
So far so good in London! Things have been running quite smoothly in comparison to the first few days on our trip. We were able to find our hostel after spending quite sometime underground trying to figure out the tube system (of course the two direct lines to our hostel were shutdown for refurbishment). Once we were checked in we headed over to Bricklane market. There we discovered some the latest fashion trends of London. No worries America Rachel and I will introduce the western world to these hip fashion statements as soon as we return.
After trying to fit in on the hipster side of town we traveled back several centuries to take a tour of the tower of london. Picked up some interesting facts there and explored some morbid areas of the castle (several murders/executions were conducted at the tower of london). Rachel literally felt the brut of the guillotine at the site of Anne of Berlin’s execution as a bird flew clear into the side of her head while the tour guide was speaking–added some comic relief to the tour.
Later, once we finished the tour, we decided to walk along the Thames river and search for a decent place to find fish and chips. Our mission was successful. Enjoyed a great meal and some more pear/strawberry cider (already declared I’m addicted to this classy beverage).
Not much else followed after dinner. Headed back to the hostel, grabbed another drink and cleaned up for bed (Rachel couldn’t remember the last time she’d showered so I suggested she freshen up). Anyway, more on the adventures of London tomorrow…rachel’s already snoozing! Heading to bed!
be careful of that “classy beverage”… it goes down just a little too easy if I am recalling right
thinking of you so often and all the amazing things you are experiencing! Have a wonderful day!!
